Outlook Express also allows you to import and export old or existing e-mails. In addition, you can use the e-mail address book directly using the shortcut on your desktop without running the program. The program, just like the original, also offers many language versions. The important thing is that the application does not have large system requirements, and that means that it will also work on slow computers without any problems. At the same time, it offers many features that are related to reading messages, creating emails, sending and managing them. Among its many options you will find, for example, the capability to set your own signature, subdivision of messages into threads, or integration with the Windows context menu. The latter means that you can easily attach to your e-mail message the files on the desktop or in folders using the “Send to” option. The application offers all the features that we know from Outlook Express 6, because it is, in fact, the same program.
The program, as the name implies, works on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 operating systems.
Assuming they are stored in C:\backup, the commands would be: c: cd \backup This will open a Windows command prompt window.
Importing Outlook Express Email to Thunderbird It isn't exactly the same as Outlook Express, but it has a similar feel to it, with a lot more features and is updated regularly. Thunderbird is made by the same folks that make the Firefox web browser. I chose to go with Mozilla Thunderbird as my default email client. I had a chance to look at Windows Live Mail and, frankly, I didn't care for it. In short: Microsoft chose not to bundle an email program with Windows 7 because they want to re-brand MSN Messenger and Outlook Express (plus other programs) under one name, namely "Windows Live Essentials." I faced the exact same issue when I upgraded to Windows 7. Question: is there another email program similar to Outlook Express, and one that can import all my old Outlook Express emails for use on Windows 7? I've archived many Outlook Express emails over the years that I would still like to keep. I noticed that Outlook Express is no longer part of Windows 7.
I finally made the plunge to Win7, thanks to your series of articles on upgrading from XP to Windows 7.
